DISPLAY ENERGY CERTIFICATES

Display Energy Certificates are required for all Public buildings to highlight the operational energy efficiency and usage of a building.

A DEC calculates how efficiently the building is operated, taking into account the type of building and the energy consumption over a 12-month period.

Display Energy Certificates have been a requirement on buildings over 1,000m² since 2008 and as of 2016 that requirement has been reduced to 250m².

Making it work for you

DECs must be updated and reissued every 12 months. In order to assist you with year-on-year improvements we produce an initial Advisory Report, which offers guidance on potential areas of improvement to the energy efficiency and rating of the building.

This has to be produced every seven years.
