Need expert support with water efficiency and Part G compliance? Our experienced team helps you implement innovative water-saving technologies and practices. Ensuring your buildings meet the required standards for water usage and drainage is critical for promoting sustainable development.

Why is Part G Water Efficiency Important?

With years of expertise in regulatory compliance, our tailored water efficiency services ensure your building meets Part G requirements. Our team will assist in specifying water saving fixture, ensure compliance, and provide reports for Building Control.

For new builds, extensions, or conversions, a Part G assessment is essential to verify water use stays below either 125l/ 110l/105l or even 100l per person per day. By meeting these regulations, you help conserve water, lower operating costs, and support sustainability. Non-compliance can lead to delays in approvals and impact your overall EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) rating.

What Does a Part G Water Calculation Involve?

Working with our expert team ensures all aspects of water usage and efficiency are considered from design to construction phase. The Part G calculation focuses on evaluating the following key factors:

  • Water Supply: Ensuring an efficient water supply system is installed
  • Water Usage: Calculating water usage for various fixtures, including toilets, showers, and sinks
  • Sanitaryware and Fixtures: Checking water flow rates and fixture specifications to comply with water efficiency standards
  • Water Recycling: Considering any water-saving systems, such as greywater or rainwater harvesting

How We Can Help

At Energy Report, we make Part G compliance simple by offering both Design Stage Water Calculations and As Built Water Calculations:

Design Stage Water Calculations

Early in the design phase, we can provide guidance on the water-efficient fixtures and fittings that meet the required standards. This ensures compliance with the local planning authority or Building Control requirements before construction begins.

As Built Water Calculations

Once the build is completed, we will calculate the actual water usage based on the installed fixtures and fittings. This final calculation will ensure your property meets the water efficiency standards and is ready for approval.

FAQs

What is Part G of the Building Regulations?

Part G (Water Efficiency) sets the minimum standards for water use in new and converted dwellings. It ensures that homes are designed to use water efficiently, safely and sustainably.

Why is a Part G water calculation required?

A Part G calculation demonstrates compliance with Building Regulations by proving that the property’s internal water use does not exceed the target of 125 litres per person per day (or 110 litres if required by local planning policy such as the London Plan).

What information is needed to complete the assessment?

We require:

  • Floor plans and bathroom/kitchen layouts
  • Details of fittings and flow rates for taps, showers, toilets and baths
  • Type of washing machine and dishwasher (if applicable)
  • Any rainwater or greywater recycling systems

How are the calculations carried out?

Each fitting is assigned a flow rate or capacity and combined to estimate the total daily water consumption per person. The assessment follows the official Water Efficiency Calculator for New Dwellings

How long does it take?

Typically 1–2 working days once all fixture data are received. For larger developments, multiple dwellings can be processed together for efficiency.

Do you issue certification for Building Control?

Yes. A Part G Water Efficiency Certificate is provided for submission to Building Control as evidence of compliance.

Can the assessment be combined with other services?

We frequently complete Part G assessments alongside SAP calculations, Part O overheating reviews, and Part F ventilation testing to deliver a fully coordinated compliance package.

What are the typical fees?

Fees start from £95 + VAT for single dwellings, with discounted rates available for multi-unit developments or when combined with other compliance services.
